PLA holds crisp edges, fine text, and small features better than any other material we stock, with a smooth matte finish available.

High stiffness keeps flat surfaces flat and dimensions accurate, which makes PLA a reliable choice for prototypes and fit checks.

Indoor use only

PLA softens around 55–60 °C and degrades outdoors. For heat or weather, see PETG or ASA.

Mechanical values are measured in the X–Y print plane. Strength across layer lines is lower (tensile strength approximately 22 MPa in Z); we orient every print to put the strongest direction where your part needs it. PLA resists most oils and greases, but is not resistant to strong acids, alkalis, or some organic solvents.

PLA printing FAQ

Can PLA be used outdoors or in a car?

No. PLA softens around 55 to 60 degrees Celsius and breaks down with prolonged UV exposure, and a dashboard in summer sun can exceed that temperature. For vehicle and outdoor parts we print ASA; for general indoor duty, PETG.

Is PLA strong?

PLA is stiff and holds tight dimensions, but it is more brittle than PETG and loses strength in heat. It suits display pieces, prototypes, and light-duty indoor parts rather than parts under sustained load.

What finish does PLA give?

The matte PLA we stock produces a smooth, even, low-gloss surface that hides layer lines well. PLA also prints the crispest detail of any material we offer.
